Accessibility statement
We want everyone to be able to build a CV with CVSheets, whatever device they use and however they use it. This statement covers this website, the CVSheets app and the CV files you download.
The standard we work to
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. We believe CVSheets partly meets it: most of it does, and the gaps we know about are listed below.
What you can do
- Use the site and app with a keyboard only, with a visible focus outline.
- Use a screen reader. Pages have headings, labels and landmarks.
- Zoom in or make text larger. Layouts are tested on narrow screens and with large text.
- Switch on larger text and stronger contrast (in the app under Preferences, on this website with the larger-text button).
- Choose a light or dark theme, or follow your device.
- Reduce motion: animations are cut back when your device asks for less motion.
- Download your CV as a tagged PDF with headings, or as Word, plain text or JSON.
How we test
- Automated accessibility checks (axe, against WCAG 2.2 AA rules) run on the main screens of the app and the website as part of our test suite.
- Tests check keyboard use, focus order, colour contrast of our design tokens and layouts at small screen sizes and with large text.
Known gaps
- Two-factor recovery codes are shown as a block of text rather than a list, so a screen reader reads them less clearly.
- One automated check, about visible labels matching the names read by screen readers, is turned off for some parts of our interface library, so those names are not checked automatically.
- Not every part of the app has been checked with reduced motion yet.
- We have not yet had a full audit by an independent expert, or tests with disabled people who use assistive technology every day. We plan to.
